Fall 2024 Move-In Days
Cougars, we are excited to welcome you to campus for the 2024-2025 academic year!
Your move-in date is determined by the residence hall you are assigned to. Please see the updated move-in schedule below:
- Wednesday, August 28, 2024: Freshman, Cougar & Bartlett Halls
- Tuesday, September 3, 2024: Upperclassman, Burch, Rogers & Sozio Halls
To make sure you’re all set and ready to go, the Office of Residence Life has put together a video tutorial on the drive-through process to make your move-in experience smooth and stress-free.

- Cougar Hall Route
- Freshman & Upperclassman Halls Route
- Quad: Bartlett, Burch, Rogers & Sozio Halls Route
1. Begin Drive-Thru
Enter the main campus from Morris Avenue at the Wilkins Theatre entrance. Remember, only 1-car per student will be allowed in the drive-thru. Additional cars will park in the Kean Hall or Hennings Hall lot to unload. At the intersection, make the left to enter the Vaughn-Eames parking lot. We’ve also planned activities kicking off August 28th through September 4th before classes begin for Jump Into Kean. Residents should not enter campus at the Green Lane or Woodland Avenue entrances.
1A. Clearance Check:
Students should log into the Housing Portal and present their clearance image. Those that show a green image and are cleared to move-in will proceed to the line to check-in.
1B. Account Holds & Single Student Bin Pick-Up:
Students who are red/not cleared will be directed to NAAB to resolve holds. If you can resolve your holds and receive full clearance, you will re-enter the drive-thru line. Students arriving by themselves will also park in the NAAB lot to unload and walk items into their residence hall.
2. Check-In & Keys:
Cleared students will continue check-in from their car and receive room keys, except Cougar Hall entry is with student ID card. Cars will be signaled to enter the drive-thru line to go over Vaughn-Eames bridge and proceed to the residence halls. Please remain in your vehicle and follow all instructions of officers and staff.
3. Drop-Off:
At your residence hall drop-off stop, staff will meet you at the car with a bin to unload. This staff member will remain with the bin, help the students to their room to unpack their belongings, and then return the bin.
4. Exit & Parking:
Once the car is unloaded, the car’s driver will proceed out of the drive-thru through Service Road to exit campus (4A) or park in the designated Kean Hall and Hennings Hall lots (4B) to rejoin the student. You may unload any remaining items; however, bins are not available, so it’s highly recommended that you bring a cart to transport any remaining belongings.
Fuel Up for Your Arrival:
- Don’t drive solo. If you’re driving alone, you won’t be able to join the drive-thru queue. Parking will be reserved in NAAB for students who arrive alone or by taxi service.
- Make sure you have a co-pilot. We’ve assembled a mighty Move-In Crew of volunteers. But you’ll still need a hand, so plan to bring at least one person (but no more than two) to help you. Ensure you sit in the front passenger seat and have the housing portal readily accessible to present your green “Cleared” status. Each resident can have up to two cars on campus during your move-in appointment; however, only one can join the drive-up queue.
- Extra cargo space: Additional trolleys, wagons, and carts are strongly recommended for an easy move-in. Once your vehicle exits the drive-up queue, bins will not be available in the Hennings and Kean Hall lots.
Move-In Requirements
To be cleared for move-in, residential students must meet the following requirements.
- Full-Time Enrollment Status: Undergraduate students must be registered for at least 12 credits to be considered full-time, and Graduate students must be registered for at least nine credits. View your status on KeanWISE.
- Review Billing and Financial Aid: Ensure you are in good financial standing and current with your bill to prevent deregistration from classes or housing.*
- Student Health Clearance: Required immunization requirements and health insurance must be submitted to the Student Health Portal.
Failure to comply with any of these actions WILL prevent you from moving in.
*If you were recently assigned housing, your balance and payment plan will have changed. You need to review your bill for these adjustments in a timely manner to avoid late fees or deregistration.
Although limited staff from Student Accounting and Financial Aid will be available on-site on your move-in date, there is no guarantee they will be able to assist you in removing the holds that day, and you may have to return home. Students can check their clearance status in the housing portal and follow up directly with these offices to rectify any holds well before move-ins.
