What Are Course Evaluations?
Course Evaluations are questionnaires given to students to provide feedback for their professors, programs, departments, schools, and college to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction as well as student learning. The questionnaires include a series of questions in each of the following categories:
- Course organization and planning
- Faculty communication
- Faculty/student interaction
- Assignments, exams and grading
- Instructional methods and materials
- Course outcomes
- Student effort and involvement
- Course difficulty, workload and pace
There are two instruments that can be utilized for course evaluations: online/hybrid and face-to-face. For the Fall 2020 semester, the Online/Hybrid Course Evaluations Instrument will be used for all courses since face-to-face courses will also be either hybrid or remote.

Important Dates
Dates for course evaluations—when they are sent out, when they are due, when faculty can view results, etc.—vary based on the academic calendar.
In general, course evaluations begin approximately three weeks before the last day of the term and close before the grading period begins, or toward the end of finals. For reference, the dates of the past academic year’s course evaluations are listed below.
For faculty, information on courses scheduled to open will be available through their Course Evaluation Dashboard around four weeks before the end of the term. The roster and response rates and the unique link to send only to the student in the course section will become active when the course evaluation opens for students. Course Evaluation reports are made available via the faculty member’s course evaluation dashboard once Academic Affairs confirms that all grades in all university programs for the term have been submitted at the end of the grading period.
