Impending Winter Storm

Due to the impending storm, all classes and activities at Kean’s main campus in Union, Kean Ocean and Kean Skylands will operate remotely on Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26. 

The University will observe a Winter Wellness Day on Tuesday, January 27, following the storm. Classes and activities will not run, and employees are not expected to work. 

Due to ongoing power problems at the Kean Ocean Gateway Building, all classes and activities at Kean Ocean will also be conducted remotely on Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24. This only applies to Kean Ocean. 

Only essential personnel should report to work as scheduled during the remote period or on Tuesday. Employees with questions about their status should consult their supervisor. 

Keanu’s Kitchen will remain open for residential students on the Union campus from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday. 

All vehicles parked on the Union campus must be relocated to the Vaughn-Eames overnight parking lot by 6 p.m. on Saturday to allow for storm cleanup. Vehicles parked elsewhere on campus are subject to relocation.

The Kean public service and administration program takes a practical approach, using case studies, hands-on experience and simulations to take students from theory to decisive action.

Kean public service and administration graduates find their passion in public service, managing government and nonprofit agencies and offices, solving societal problems, steering public policy, and serving in elected office.

Kean students from the General Education Learning Community visited Newark’s Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery to see civic engagement in practice, meet community partners and learn about trauma-informed support. The experience brought course concepts to life and helped students envision their own purpose-driven paths and potential careers in community impact.

What You Learn

  • Create and implement plans to address and solve challenges for communities and individuals
     
  • Explore a practical approach found in case studies, hands-on learning experiences and simulations
     
  • Learn to direct and manage all levels of government and nonprofit organizations
     
  • Sharpen your ability to think critically, write well and speak with confidence

Kean also offers a five-year B.A./MPA  honors program to begin your graduate work as an undergraduate and reduce the amount of time required to complete a master’s degree. Choose from three B.A./MPA options — general management, health services management or nonprofit management

You can also choose to minor in public service and administration to complement your studies in another area.
