Academic Advising Requirements
The University recognizes academic advisement as an essential component of the student experience. All Kean University undergraduate students are assigned an academic advisor to support their academic progress and success.
NJCU students will continue to receive academic advising through the University Advisement Center at New Jersey City University. Current NJCU students should visit the NJCU University Advisement Center webpage for additional information.
Kean-NJCU Advisement
Students enrolled at New Jersey City University for Spring 2026 should continue to meet with their NJCU advisors for Fall 2026 course registration. Please visit the NJCU University Advisement Center webpage to learn more. Additional information about academic program offerings is available on the NJCU Merger Advisement Resource Center page.
Continuing Undergraduate Student Academic Advisement
Academic advisors for continuing undergraduate students are assigned by academic major, credits completed, campus and/or special admit program. Depending on a student's major (i.e. education), new incoming freshman student status or special admit program (i.e. EOF, Bridge to Success, Supera), an academic advisement hold will be placed on their account each semester until they have met with an academic advisor.
Students with registration advisement holds can schedule an appointment with their special program assigned academic advisor, via Navigate360 to discuss registration. After their appointment, the hold will be removed from their account, enabling registration. Students with a second major or content area may have a second major advisement hold placed on their account until they have met with their second advisor. For additional information about resolving registration advisement holds, please visit the Registration Restrictions and Holds webpage.
All students are encouraged to regularly review their program evaluations and seek registration guidance from their academic advisor to ensure timely degree completion. Each academic advisor may have different preferences for scheduling advisement appointments.
Ways to meet with an academic Advisor
- Make an appointment through the Navigate360 app
- Visit faculty during posted office hours
- Email the Faculty Advisor directly to request an appointment. Students can find their advisors’ email addressed on their Keanwise account and on their Navigate APP.
